| John Mathious and Ambrose Lee were the only sons of George H.
Brantner to have sons. John M. is the progenitor of the early "Central Texas Brantners."
Ambrose fathered the early "West Texas Brantners." John M. married Margaret Jane Johnson and John's sister, Mary Jane, married William Isaiah Johnson, Margaret's brother. The Johnson parents are shown below. |

(The photos immediately above and below were dated December 1934,
but one of the children below, Ola Lucy, died in October 1934 at age 50.)

| Ten of the thirteen Brantner children are shown. Romeo and Opa Maurice died as children; J. Luther died in 1923. Many Brantners and Johnsons are buried in the Petteway Cemetery. |

| James F. Daniel notes the following regarding the above photo:
The picture was taken just one and a half years before W. W. died. All of the persons have not been identified. The fiddler on the left is thought to be James Hiram Johnson [W. W.'s son]. This photograph would have been made in Robertson County shortly after W. W.'s Confederate Pension was approved. In this regard, it is probable that only those children and their families who resided in or near Robertson County would have attended the gathering. Therefore, [son] Thomas Peter Johnson's family would not likely be in the photo. Another son, William Isaiah died 20 years earlier. Other possibilities include daughter Angeline and Thomas Gray, the wife and children of son Jessee Johnson, and perhaps some of the Parker relatives. |
