George H. and Susannah Lambkin Brantner were the progenitors of the early
Brantner lineages in Texas. Their descendancy has been fairly well documented. Less
is known, however, about their oldest daughter, Mary Imogene (Mary Jane) Brantner. Just this year
(2003) I learned of her grave in this cemetery, and more information about
her lineage is becoming available.
Mary Imogene Brantner married William Isaiah Johnson, whose sister, Margaret Jane Johnson
married Mary Imogene's brother, John Mathious Brantner. Mary and William Isaiah had four
children, and three of their graves have been located, as indicated on the
family group sheet.
Two of the Johnson daughters, Ellen Nora and Florence both married Jenkins -- first cousins, in a double ceremony.
Florence and William James Jenkins are also buried in the Weinert Cemetery.
Ellen and John Robert Jenkins are buried in Heards Prairie/Petteway Cemetery, Robertson County, Texas.
Two years after William Isaiah's death in 1879, Mary Imogene married Henry Dallam,
and they had four children. Henry died in 1911, and is buried in the Acker Cemetery, Stephens County, Texas.
One of the children, Ruby Dallam Wilson, is buried with her grandmother,
Susannah Lambkin Brantner, in the old pioneer S. C. S. Ellis Cemetery
in Stephens County. |
