PLAINVIEW (Special) - Services for Henry Franklin Offield, 72, of Plainview will be at 2 p.m. today in 11th and Amarillo Street Church of Christ with J. Henderson and Louis Senter officiating.
Burial will be at 5 p.m. in Spur Cemetery under direction of Wood Dunning Funeral Home.
Offield died at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Dickens County and moved to Plainview from Tahoka in 1955. He married Gladys Irene Hoover on July 19, 1941, in Dickens. He was a compression station operator for Pioneer Natural Gas until retiring in 1978. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joe D. of Plaiview and Joy L. of Lone Grove, OK; a brother, J.W. of Longview; three sisters, Stella Derington of Midland, Marie Calvert of Farmers Branch and Eva McCain of Shallowater; five grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
Nephews will be pallbearers.

News Article: Woman is Fourth Victim of Drowning at Surfside
SURFSIDE - A Houston woman has become the fourth drowning victim this season at the Surfside Beach.
Early Wednesday evening, Ailene Berg, 65, of 5463 Jackwood in Houston was pulled from the surf, a spokesman in the city Marshall's office said. She was taken to Community Hospital in Freeport and pronounced dead there by a local justice of the peace.
Judge Roy Knopp said Mrs. Berg’s drowning was ruled accidental. Witnesses said she apparently went out too far into the water.

D N (Neil) Oldham, age 79, passed away April 23, 1991. He was a member of Anchor Baptist Church and was affiliated with Borden Milk Company for 47 years.
He is preceded in death by brother Bryan Oldham. Survived by wife, Evelyn Oldham, daughter, Betty Bass & husband Howard. Son, Ronnie Oldham & wife Sallye. Sisters, Leone & Oscar Glaze, Madeline Leonard, Ina Made [Maude] McGee. 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11A.M. at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lee McDowell officiating.

Mrs. Artellia Wallace
Funeral services for Mrs. Artellia Wallace of Bremond were held Wednesday, August 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Petteway Community Church with Rev. Bill Agee officiating. Burial was at the Petteway Cemetery.
Mrs. Wallace passed away Aug. 3, 1981, at a Marlin hospital at the age of 84 years.
Mrs. Wallace was born Feb. 22, 1897, at Buffalo, Texas. Her parents were the late Ed Oldham and Louvenia Brantner Oldham. Her husband Frank Wallace preceded her in death.
Survivors include Edward Wallace of Petteway and Howard Wallace of Brazoria; A daughter, Genevia Williams of Louisville, KY., two half brothers, Loveles Jones and Waldron Jones, both of Houston; seven grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
Peiskee Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements.

Leone Glaze
Funeral services for Leone Oldham Wooten Glaze, age 94, of Houston were held at 1 pm on Tuesday, May 25, 1999 at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Lewis officiating. Interment was in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
Mrs. Glaze died May 23rd. She was born July 29, 1904 in Bremond to John and Ola Oldham.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Deckard Nell Oldham and Bryan Oldham, her first husband, Willie Wooten, her second husband, Oscar Glaze, and her daughter, Maylavelle McAlexander.
Survivors include two sisters, Ina Maude McGee and Madleine Leonard, both of Houston; a grandson, Gerald V. McAlexander and wife Gloria; four great grandsons and two great granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Young Oldham
Funeral services for John Young Oldham, age 87, were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2000 at the Herds Prairie Baptist Church. Bro. Dan Bates and Bro. Floyd Paltier officiated at the services.
Interment followed in the Herds Prairie Cemetery at Petteway. Serving as pallbearers were Louis Dean Oldham, Mark Bailey, Mark Stewart, Don Bailey, Wayne Oldham and Mike Tulleson.
Mr. Oldham passed away on September 11 in Temple. He was born March 1, 1913 at Herds Prairie, one of eight children of Calvin and Alva Poole Oldham. He attended school in Petteway. He and Ruby Hand were married on Oct. 21, 1948.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Oldham was a farmer and rancher and a resident of Herds Prairie all of his life. He was a member of the Herds Prairie Baptist Church in Petteway where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bremond.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Hand Oldham of Petteway; one daughter Kathryn Elder Dela-Torre of Houston; one son and daughter-in-law Danny and Tammy Oldham of Petteway; one sister Lillis Oldham of Austin; three grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Dela-Torre of Lubbock, Sarah Elizabeth Dela-Torre of Tucson, Arizona, Taylor Kathleen Dela-Torre of Houston and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin was in charge of arrangements.

Bennie Oldham
BREMOND-Bennie Oldham of Bremond, died Friday [24 Nov 1995] at a Bryan hospital. He was 77.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday [27 Nov 1995] at Blair-Stubbs-McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin, the Rev. Jesse Petty, the Rev. Floyd Peltier and the Rev. Lohen Gonzales officiating. Burial will be at Petteway Cemetery in Petteway, Texas.
Mr. Oldham was born April 6, 1918, in the Petteway community of Robertson County. He had received his education and spent his lifetime in the Petteway community.
He was a rancher and a member of the Herds Prairie Baptist Church where he had been serving as church treasurer. He was a member of the Masonic Bremond Lodge #350 in Bremond, where he had most recently received his 50-year pin.
He married Mary Evelyn Basham on Oct. 29, 1971, in Houston.
Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Ella Mae Bailey, Lillis Bailey and Louise Tolleson, all of Austin; and a brother, Young Oldham of Petteway.

McGee, Ina Maude Oldham Smith
Ina Maude Oldham Smith McGee, age 96, went home to her Lord on May 26, 2006.
She was born in San Antonio, Texas to John Franklin Oldham and Ola Branter [Brantner] Oldham and raised in Bremond. Ina Maud was preceded in death by her parents; husband James McGee; brothers Bryan Oldham and Neil Oldham; sister Leone Glaze. She is survived by daughter Joyce Smith Janak; sister Madeline Leonard; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery at 10:00 A M, with a visitation in the Funeral Home starting at 9:00 AM Tuesday. The family requests donations to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.

Madeline Leonard
MADELINE LEONARD died on Thursday, March 22, 2007, after an extended illness with Alzheimer's disease. She was born June 2, 1915, in Bremond, Texas, to Ola Brantner and John Franklyn Oldham.
Madeline owned a local drapery company that specialized in custom draperies. She attended West University Baptist Church and was a resident of West University for 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hoyt Ballard, and her second husband, Roy Leonard. Madeline is survived by her daughter, Joanabeth McGee and her husband John; her son, Hoyt Ballard and his wife Jaralyn; her son, Jon R. Ballard and wife Maxine; ten grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Ruth Kemp for 13 years of loving and devoted care. Madeline was a loving, caring person who will be greatly missed, especially by her daughter and the family she loved so dearly. Her memory will be cherished always.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at 3:30 p.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road. A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Calvin Shellman Oldham, who passed away March 19, at 3:30 p.m. [1951], were held Tuesday [March 20] at 4 p.m. at the Post Oak Baptist church at Petteway. Burial followed in the Petteway Cemetery.
J. L. Wallace, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church conducted the religious services. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Joe Rumple of Bremond.
Calvin Oldham, son of Ben Oldham and Emily Durham, was born February 20, 1869 at Kosciusko, [Attala County] Mississippi.
The family came to Texas when the deceased was a child. He was converted early in life and united with the Baptist Church. He married fifty one years ago this April to Miss Alma Pool, with eight children born to this union. Mable Marie died at the tender age 11.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Alma Pool, and seven children; four sons, Edgar, Pate, Young and Benny all of Bremond; three daughters, Mrs. Eila May Bailey, Mrs. Lillias Bailey and Mrs. Louise Tooeson all of Austin. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Edgar B. Oldham were held Sunday afternoon, January 27, at two o’clock in the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Gregg officiating. Burial was in Post Oak cemetery.
Mr. Oldham died Friday, January 25, 1963 at 2:16 p.m.
He was born in Post Oak Community to Cal Oldham and Alma Poole Oldham January 11, 1901. Mr. Oldham was a pipe-fitter and had lived in Bremond for 15 years.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. E.B. Oldham at 117 North Commerce: two sons, Wayne of Boulder, Colorado, and Bates of Houston; three brothers, Pate, Young and Benny Oldham all of Bremond; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Bailey, Mrs. Ella Mae Bailey, both of Austin; and Mrs. Louise Tollerson also of Austin; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Gordon Fowler, Seth Brantner, Jimmy Laster, Roy Poland, Dean White, Sam Lockhart, Bennett Hearne, and Floyd Caskey.
Honorary pallbearers were Celon Speer, Clyde Williams, James Green, Cantrell Green, Howard Hunt, Richard Hunt, and Joe Falsome.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rumple’s Funeral Home.

KELLER -- Vonnie Oldham Carpenter, 97, a homemaker, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005, in Keller.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Lucas & Thompson's Funeral Home, 137 E. Hill St., Keller. Burial: Bourland Cemetery in Keller. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Vonnie Carpenter was born July 29, 1907, in Brashear [Hopkins County, TX.]. She graduated from Keller High School.
Besides being a homemaker, Mrs. Carpenter worked many years at Keller Pharmacy and at a Keller manufacturing company.
She was a lifelong member of Keller Presbyterian Church. Vonnie was a former member of the Keller Garden Club and Bourland Cemetery Association. She was known for her beautiful flowers and vegetable garden at her Keller home, her unique sense of humor and zest for life endured her to many friends and family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Robert Lee Carpenter; husband of 23 years, Ralph Carpenter; one daughter, Johnnie Lee Berry; and a grandson, David Lee Huskins.
Survivors: Daughter, Jean Huskins and husband, Fred, of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, Karla Mc Gilvray; grandsons, Glenn Berry, Mark Huskins and Matthew Huskins; and five great-grandchildren.
