| In the fall of 1919, the Hoover family returned to the Erath/Comanche counties area to pick cotton. It was on the trip that two of the young children died: Troy Edgar from a ruptured appendix and Ester Wynona about two weeks later from influenza. During this time, their mother, Ada Belle also had the flu while pregnant with Travis Bernard. This is why Troy and Wynona are buried with Hoover/Scott relatives in the Hanson Cemetery (Comanche County) rather than back home in the Red Mud Community of Dickens/Kent, where Travis was born a few weeks after their deaths. |
