| Elijah Copeland was bondsman for the marriage of Hiram Smith & Elijah's sister, Martha Copeland on 19 Feb 1843 in Rankin County, MS. |
| On the 1850 Census LA Jackson, Hiram and Martha were living next to Elijah Coplin, Martha's brother. Also in the Smith
household was Ann Copland (sic) 21, presumed to be the sister of Martha and Elijah, and presumed to be the same Ann that married
Hiram after Martha died.
The 1880 Census TX Robertson, Jun 1880: Hiram 66, wife Ann 52, sons Martin 21 & D.(?) L. 11, the latter presumably born to Ann. It is thought that this Ann is the sister of Martha. |
| The Smith - Copeland connections go back through LA to MS. |
