| Census reports for the children indicate their father was born in Texas. On daughter Hattie's death certificate, spouse John Z. Smith states the father was J. F. McKay born in Robinson Co. Texas. The obituary for oldest son William Albert states he was born in Robertson County. Some sources suggest John F. was born in McLennan County, and there is a community of Robinson there.
The only early Census found thus far is: 1860 TX Leon 503/503 Sep 21: S. D. Mckay and family, with Jno. F. Mckay 11 TX. John Fitzgerald died 27 Feb 1900. On 26 June, his widow and children are in the 1900 Census,TX Dickens, Pct. 3 household of oldest son W. A. McKay. |
