| Notes:
Nancy Garrett's parents migrated from Wilkes County, Georgia (next to South Carolina) to Wilkinson County in central Georgia where Nancy Ann was born in 1820. The Garrett family later moved to the Pike County, Alabama area where Nancy would marry John Jasper Brooks. All of their children would be born in Alabama. Records state that John Jasper enlisted in the Confederate Army in Pike County in 1861 and mustered out at Manassas, Virginia in 1862 and did not survive the war. Another record says he died in September, 1861. After John J. died, Nancy would eventually go Texas with her children. Sources: 1850 Census AL Pike Sep 19: John J.
