Lewis M. is the son of Jesse Fry (9 Nov 1785 - 1850) and Milly Crews (1783 - 1821)

For more on the Fry (Frey) ancestry, visit Janet Mae Westmorland's site.

Lewis M. and Rebecca were in Forsyth County, NC on 16 November 1850. Stokes joins Forsyth County on the north. They left NC after William was born in 1851, and their next and last two children were born in Greene County, TN in 1854 and 1857.

By mid-1860 they were in Denton County, TX. Most everyone farmed and/or raised cattle, but in 1870 the Fry's were also operating a hotel in Denton town. Most of the children would remain in Denton County. One exception was twin Evander, who left the parent household after 1870, married an Illinois girl about 1871 and settled in that state.

Twin Alexander said he was 10 (1859) when the family arrived in Texas. Alex and family went to Jack County, TX (1910), but in 1914 they pushed on ahead of the cotton boll weevils to Dickens County, TX. Jesse would be found in Clay County in 1920 and 1930. The youngest, Lewis, is unaccounted for in 1880, but in 1900 he was in Paducah, Cottle, TX.
Rufus Dewitt married Martha Jane Barnam 12 Oct 1856 in Green County, Tennessee.
Joseph Jephtha married in 1865 Sarah J. Beeler, born Dec 1847 in Illinois. They had one child not living. Sarah is older sister to Evander's wife Alfretta Rachel Beeler. Joseph reportedly died from old age and burns received in a gas explosion at the home of his brother, William Steadman. Joseph and Sarah are buried alongside in City Cemetery in Denton.
Milly Ann married (bef 1867) William C. Bobbitt (1833 - bef 1900).
Martha M. married Gus Caywell
Alexander's 1929 obituary states, "Of a family of nine brothers and two sisters, Alec Fry has only one surviving brother, Bill Fry of Denton,Texas."
