Given Names and Nicknames: I always heard Mary referred to as as Mary Jane. After a review of six census records, two marriage certificates, and her death certificate, I have determined that Marys corrrect given name is "Mary Imogene." In only one of these, her first marriage, is she designated "Mary Jane." Additionally, her brother, Ambrose, named a daughter Ruth Imogene after her mother and grandmother. Mary's daughter, Ellen Nora Johnson Jenkins, named a daughter Mary Imogene.

Mary's daughter, Ellen Nora Johnson, was always known by the Brantner family as "Elnora," and is so listed on the 1880 Census for TX Robertson -- obviously a shortening of her true name.

Mary met and married William Isaiah Johnson in Montgomery County, Texas. Most of the Johnsons stayed in Montgomery when the Brantners, including Mary and William, matriculated to Robertson County. Their children were all born in Robertson or an ajacent county.

William Isaiah died in January of 1879, and Mary and four children moved in with Mary's widowed mother, Susannah Brantner. Thus we find the two widows in the 1880 Census: TX Robertson JP5 222/222, June 14, Susana Brantner and 3 children, and Mary Johnson and her 4 children.

In the next 1880 household, 221/221, of W. T. Wright, Jr. was H. Dallam 29, KY-KY-KY, a single boarder, teaching school. Henry and Mary would marry a few days later, on June 30. They remained in Robertson County through 1900. Garth, their last child is presumed to have been born in Robertson about 1901.

Calvin and Emily Sue Brantner Brown (Mary's younger sister) left Robertson County in 1901 after their last child was born, and moved to Eastlend County, later the Acker Community of adjacent Stephens County. Sometime between 1901 and 1910, the Dallams joined them in the Acker Community. By 1910, Garth was the only child still at home. It was at Acker that Henry died in 1911 and is buried in the Acker Cemetery.

Mary apparently spent most of her remaining years with her Johnson daughter, Florence and William James Jenkins in Haskell County, Texas. She would sometimes visit her brother, Ambrose Brantner in Kent County, and was there at the time of the 1930 TX Kent Census.

Ruby Dallam married Joe F. Wilson (7 Dec 1878 - c.1913/14) 30 Jan 1905 in Eastland County. She is buried with her grandmother, Susannah Brantner, in the S.C.S. Ellis Cemetery in Stephens County, Texas.
Personal Note: Susan Ann Johnson, in the above Brantner/Johnson line, married Columbus Jefferson Smith, younger brother of my grandmother, Lugenia Emiline Smith Brantner.
