| Notes:
Monroe was the son of Richard F. Harrell and Nancy Louise Culver Vancleave. Richard was born 11 May 1813 in Perquimans County, NC and died 19 Jun 1894 in Hunt County, TX. He first married Margie Ann Enoch Sep 1841 in Lamar County, TX. She was born 4 Mar 1826 in Carroll County, TN and died Sep 1844 in Fannin County, TX. They had three children. Richard's second wife, Nancy Louise was the daughter of Grenade Culver, and was previously married to a Vancleave. Some Vancleave children appear in Harrell census records. Nancy was born 21 Sep 1823 in Rutherford County, TN and died 30 Apr 1888 in Kellog, Hunt, TX. She and Richard had ten known children. Wealthy Alice Thomas was the daughter of Frederick George Thomas and Mary Ann Cole. Wealthy's unique name apparently came from her maternal Cole grandmother, Wealtha Taylor Cole. It seems obvious from sources that Wealthy preferred to use her initials, and "Mrs. W. A. Harrell" is on her cemetery marker and other records. Sources: TX Marriages 1814-1909: N. L. Van Cleave - R. | Ora and Ara -- It is probable that these young daughters died in Hunt County, TX. |
| Richard Fount was probably named for his grandfather, Richard F. and his Uncle Fountain E.
Pitts Harrell. Fount married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Perkins about 1916. She was born May 1887 in Alabama,
daughter of John Thomas Perkins and Margaret D. "Maggie" Box. The John Perkins family came to Texas
about 1895 and was in Jones County in 1900, Dickens County in 1910.
Lizzie's brother, James M. Perkins was the second husband of Alice Ester Smith McKay, older sister of Willis Annul Smith. |
| Mamie Elizabeth - Not sure about DOD. There is a Mamie Harrell buried in Red Mud Cemetery with no dates. |
| Ira, 1900 Census b. Jun 1897 -- Red Mud Cemetery Listing: Ira Mack Harrell b. 1898 d. 1973.
The 1930 TX Garza Census has Ira 30, single, renting, with also his widowed mother, Mrs W A Harrell 74 and niece Pansy Smith 15. Pansy was the youngest child of Willis Annul Smith and deceased mother Mattie Pearl Perkins. The NE corner of Garza is part of the Red Mud Community, known earlier as Tap and also Red Top (school). |
